I have a 89 TBI 305 that is starting to get tired. If I'm going to do a swap I want to make it worthwile. Any body done this. What , computerwise needs to be changed for a 300hp 350 with a spicy cam,not too big, and a good set of heads and headers. Obviously the 305 TBI unit will not give the fuel needed, and what about timing and advance curve. I know its been done, just wondering how much is involved.

350 knock sensor, new chip, larger injectors. thats he essentials small tbi will allow you to make 300hp. with a 350, but a 454 tb tuned right wouldnt hurt

what kind of chip if 350 injectors are used

 

You can either get a chip from a 89-91 (?) Caprice, or call Summitt. They're usually pretty helpful as far as chip selection goes.

Summit? Are you talking about getting a performance chip for a caprice, or a custom prom made thru them? I didn't know summit did that?

Nothing major, but FUN!

 

I did the swap but am having problems with my fuel pump right now (lean beyond 4000rpm because of no fuel pressure). As far as custom eproms, I too didn't know Summit had a clue and I program my own . Find a local guy or somebody that programs eproms and has a similar engine combo as you and ask them nicely.
