Dual snorkel Air cleaner

Currently I have a 14x3" open element with a K&n. But living in Arizona it is breathing nothing but hot air.
-I have been considering stepping up to a 305 H.O. dual snorkel set up, but wasn't sure how well the flowed.
-Also I have been considering two other options:
modifiying a TPI air cleaner assembly to work. Or Building a intake wich would replace the high beams and draw air through 3" exhuast pipe into a custom air cleaner.

What do you guys think?
Which could give me the most power?
Do my ideas make any sense at all?

Thanks,
Jordan

Oh yeah, I just moved into the dorms here at Arizona State University, a couple days ago, yesterday I walked out to my car, and it had been KEYED! I don't even know any one yet, I have no idea why some one would just do that. The damage doesn't bother me as much as them doing it for no good reason.

Your ideas make sense, i think there was someone on here before who modified a tpi intake to work on the tbi snorkel, i liked it. I really don’t know how much more a duel snorkel would produce over an open element if any, but considering its probably really hot in Arizona it might help, i personally don’t think it is worth it and if you want fresh air get a cowel hood, and that incident about your car that really sucks hate people vandalizing things without a cause

does anyone know what year TPI scoop/intake/snorkle will work on our TBI cars? How about flow numbers? Looks to me like the max size hose that would work is 4". I guess thats why people are using the drivers side TBI snorkle along with the TPI set up.Thnaks for any info..........bob

The stock TPI intake system is also very restrictive. If it's for a 91-92 then it's speed density and no MAF sensor so less work on your part. The dual snorkel system is nice if you have the ducting. If you don't (like me) then the open element is the best bang for buck and still looks very good ($15).

IrocJT, Your post is exactly ME! I have a 91 RS convertable red with the same open element and it does get way too hot sitting in traffic, and by traffic I mean this hot Arizona rush hour traffic that I experience everyday here at Arizona State (Yep I go here too, what a great place huh? Hot chicks, great partys, and yes my car got gum put all over it yesterday! I met anotherguy here (Sahouro Hall) with a sweet 92 Z28 and we are going to the track this weekend. Give me a call If you want to go 884-8492 (Brady)

Sorry if this double posts.....
JTiroc You have the exact same problem I do, and I mean exact! I drive a 91 Rs convertable with the same open element you do and you are right it does get way to hot. I know this because I go to Arizona state university too and this hot rush hour traffic around campus is killing me and my cars performance. I also feel your pain from the keying incedent cause my car had gum thrown all over it and it melted in to the paint(people here just don't respect cars that their rich parents didn't buy them)But you gotta love the chicks. Anyway, I met another guy here with a nice 92 Z28 over in saguaro hall today (I'm at the Kappa Sigma frat house) and we might go to the track this weekend so if you want to go or whatever give me a call 884-8492 I'm Brady by the way.
