Gas gague broke?

Gas gague broke?
When i bought my 91 rs it had a problem with the gas gague, sometime it worked sometimes it didnt. back and forth. now im pretty sure it doesnt work at all, or maybe it does, i havent had more than a gallon of gas in it for a long time.
are there any easy sountions to try before i drop the tank? maybe a ground wire or something, or something in the dash?
