LT4 cam installed

Just thot that I'd let anybody that's interested know that the LT4 cam is in and the car runs great without any changes to tuning except for 2 degrees added timing and I don't know if that was necessary or not. I just wanted to try a little more timing. I have not changed the fuel curve any. The scanner reads BLM of 125 at 70 to 80 cruise in 5th gear and it does not get any knock counts at normal accell or WOT. There's probably more performance to be gained as I have not done any plug cut's or messed with the timing curve or fuel in the chip at all. The car pulls much better now! Makes me want to install an intake this weekend but I'm not sure what heads I will end up using. Hope this helps anyone that wants to use this cam for some reason.

sounds good. are you still getting good throttle response? what are the numbers onthe LT4 cam? isn't that like .492 lift?

Tim, it has great throttle response. I am really surprised that it did not need more initial tuning. The numbers are 203 int and 210 exh dur@.050. The lift with 1.5 rockers are 446 int and 449 exh. With 1.6 rockers 476 int and 479 exh. 115 l.c. It's not that much different from the LT1's. It has a little more dur and a lower l.c. The lift that you will have with you LT1 will be higher. I am only running the stock 1.5 rockers for now. If I quit trying to talk myself into doing something different I will be installing my Vortec heads, Performer vortec intake, and 1.6 Crane full rollers. People say it should run good and they're probably correct. Just the cam with the stock intake and heads has me spinning the tires coming out of some corners again! Before the cam swap it would not do this so I'm assuming more power is on tap.

Ya know Tim, I missed the .492 lift question. You aren't thinking that I have the LT4 hot cam are you? That is the 1.5 lift for that cam.

Taking a road trip sounds kool. It's funny but, the car seems to be getting better gas milage. I'll know when I fill up this weekend. I just don't see how as I've been enjoying the added power quite often.

Thanks Brian, I hope that it does run well. Import, as far as screaming compared to the stock LO3 I'm sure it does. 14.5? who knows and if the owner is happy with it that is all that matters but elapsed times are not always going to show all the power that the engine is making due to setup, conditions and driver experience. For me powering through some twisties and coming off some corners with some torque is what I'm looking for.

Jason Yes I used the stock springs. I changed the oil pump, oil pan, timing set, front cover and balancer because I had newer parts on hand and spent alot of time cleaning. It runs better.
