Most HP from a TBI

I have a 350 TBI motor in my 91 S10 pickup, and am looking for some more power. I already have the edelbrock intake, tbi spacer, cam (204/214 at .50) open aircleaner with K&N, and headers. What else could i do to get this thing to really scream? Could anyone here burn me a custom chip?

thanks
nate

You have lots of options and I hope you've already played with the fuel pressure. A larger bump stick will usually require some tuning so as not to run lean at WOT.

have the intake bored to fit a 670 holley TBI or a 454's TBI. If that doesn't do it then its time for a new intake.

What is your compression ratio, what heads are you running?

Also, since you do not have a chip, bump up the timimg. Actually while your at it get a hot coil and also bump open the spark plug gap.

How well does your exhuast flow behind the headers?

Are you running the stock TB, if so have you done all free mods to it?

Hope this gives you some ideas,
Jordan

okay,i just bought a jacobs coil today, and am gonna get a MSD 6AL soon. I havent installed the headers yet, but I am gonna run true duals with flowmaster 40 series mufflers.

I'm running the stock heads from a 91 suburban, (thats what the motor is from)and I'm not sure what my compresssion ratio is.

Also, what do you mean by free mods to the TBI? the only thing i've done to the throttle body is added the AFPR.

thanks
nate

Well it depends on how much money you wanna dump into it. If you want some decent HP for fairly cheap, I would get a Vortec intake and a set of cast iron Vortec heads, I hear they make good power for the price. If you got the extra money, you might wanna get a more expensive set of aluminum heads, like maybe Edelbrock or something, I dunno how wild you wanna make it so I really cant say much.

theres a few mods that come to mind , ti replace for more power, stock tbi unit, heads ( either aluminum heads or iron vortecs with the matching intake) and the rest of the exhaust. After you have that work done, then you will want to get a custom chip burnt for you .

Hey, NAte. My Father-in-law is thinking of selling his S-10. That is one small truck for a 350!!! His has like 12k miles on it, 95 I think. really small truck, 2wd 4 cylinder. A 350 in that with tubbed rear with N50's = nice!!!

Don't do it! Keep the 700R4 but have it built properly. They work fine. I was scheptical too but now I am a believer... Plus, you can keep nasty gears in it and get ok mileage.

Would you rather have 5.13 rear gears or 3.55??? That's the difference a TH700 makes over the TH350 in OD!!! ie, run 5.13's with the TH700 in OD and acts like a TH350 with 355's in Drive!!! BUT the 5.13/TH700 COMBO WILL HAVE 75% off-the-line advantage in gearing, from rear gear difference and from the difference in the tranny 1st gear numbers!!!! (5.13/3.55*3.06/2.52)Tire/suspend the truck appropriately and you will not be beat... My .02.

TH700 has 21% advantage in 1st gear all by itself!
