Loud bang when accelerating
Loud bang when accelerating
When I am at a stop and press it WOT usually it feels/sounds like a bang then it goes, it only bangs from a stop I think. Could this be a bad transmission mount?

That happened to me before, it was the torque arm.

If you go real slow and keep the car in1st gear till about 3000rpm then shift into 2nd, hopefully it'll shift pretty hard, if you feel the clunking again...tranny mount.
If they're both original, again, it's usually the tranny mount that goes first.
Had the same symptoms here. Definite trans mount. It is pretty cheap and easy to fix too.

It really is annoying to hear/feel that...but I'll vouch and say it's probably your tranny mount, saaaaaame thing happened to me. And get a poly one. It'll last.

I just had the same thing and it was the trans mount. Had the car at Goodyear and I asked them to look at the trans mount that I had a bang when I took off, they told me the mount was fine but I needed $600.00 in work to replace the ring and pinion. Funny when I took out the old trans mount it came out in two pieces and since I replaced it I have no more bang. I guess I should drive the car over to Goodyear and give them $600.00 to fix the rear end now
Re: Loud bang when accelerating
I know this is an old old thread, but I don't feel the need to start a new thread when the question can be answered so quickly. So here it goes, with research I have found that i need a new tranny mount. I've needed one for awhile, my speedometer recently started not working sometimes (temperamental), and my shifts are very very soft. Now could a bad tranny mount cause these issues from the tranns wiggling around?

Re: Loud bang when accelerating
No - check the adjustment of your TV cable, and check your tranny fluids. For speedo, make sure the cable/wire connector is not coming out of the tailhousing (driver side).
