Maybe A Misfire?
I have a 89 rs, 305/TBI
I have replaced the wires/spark plugs/coil pack/ distrib cap. I start it up, it runs very rough, but stays at a semi consistant Idle. I took it on the road, smashed that baby and it felt like i had a 1.0 ltr in a 8000 lb car, it had no power, but when it shifted gears it was like BAM hardcore power then its gone, only has decent slam when it changes gears. I removed my throttle body and one of the vac lines was pretty plugged up so im cleaning this as we speak, what im trying to ask anyone have a clue what the problem could be, its not popping any codes, im gonna try the clean TBI tonight hope it works but probably wont. I dont know what could be wrong, its like its totaly misfire'n but i have pulled 1 plug at a time and started it and seen spark, i double checked all gaps on plugs, I know i put my wires in the correct spot, ran a compression test on all cyl's about 150 for all them..... Im totaly clueless please help

to me it sounds like your ecm is retarding your timing! it may be numerous things. your knock sensor picking up knock. you have an exhaust leak. your egr. do you have any aldl cable to datalogg the car? when you are under load do you here any rattling from the engine? pinging? it could be your timing.

Re: Maybe A Misfire?
I dont have a AlDL cable. What would be the easiest way to see if its the timing, mess with the Cap by turning it? I cant tell if there is any ratteling cuz the car is like shaking when under a load. Another thing, should i take the knock sensor off the engine and then try just to eliminate that idea?
I dont think I have an exhaust leak, you should be able to smell it if ur up under the hood for a while with it running? plus i dont hear anything that sounds like exhaust in the engine bay.
Would the EGR valve really do all that?
