Just got a camaro: what mods to start with?
My friend just bought a camaro, I'm familiar with Chevy engines, but I'm used to my v6. He has a 1992 LS with the 305 and a 5sp tranny. Where can we start adding horsepower?

You can add 10hp by changing the LS to an RS.

Welcome to the board
I'll guess you mean RS not LS some more details on the car would be helpful 6 or 8 tbi or tpi.
First mods would be tune up cap, rotor, plugs, wires, filters, K&N air filter(s). Not really a mod but get it running as good as it can. Then get back with what type of induction it has (tbi or tpi) and we can go from there

Heck, and they were going easy on ya!!!
There are SO many differnt routes to take in adding mods to your ride. You must first decide what you want out of your new car. Handling? 1/4 Track runs? Mods to just street race? etc... If you can tell us what you're "LOOKING FOR" out of your car and how you're gonna drive it (daily, weekend only <street/strip>, strip only), there's plenty of talent on this board to help you in your request.
Oh yeah... welcome to the board!

Yeah, you should have seen what Tas did to me when I was a newbie...
You're getting it easy!
There's a few tech articles on what to do with a TBI'd car on this site.
They involve things like an open element air filter, a few mods to the TB, and a adjustable fuel pressure regulator.
After that, do the usual stuff you would to a chev small block.
