doesn't want to crank over
ok new battery ,starter . if i put the dist in one spot it turns over and runs but if i try setting advance (moving dissy) it doesn't want to turn over.

firing order correct ,est off. it acts almost like it vapor locks or something but i dont run it long enough for that.

Your timing is advanced much too far when it won't turn over.

don't mean to be a pill,but my dad says its a tooth off but how can i get it right on when the dissy only goes in so mant ways.

yes i put this new one in it,at first i had it 180 out. now it'll start but only in the 1 position, other wise it will do the afored mentioned.

Bring the engine to #1 TDC firing first.
Then you can install the distributor, put the #1 plug wire on whichever terminal on the cap that the rotor is pointing at, and put the rest of the wires on in order from there.
Or, you can use a long flat screwdriver to turn the oil pump drive shaft until it lets you put the distributor in so that it's aligned with the terminal on the cap that you want to be #1.

i m just about to give up, i know its close to being time yet once again it just cranks and cranks and does nothing.

now this is retarded ,when trying to crank over car girlfriend asked me why gas only comes out of 1 injector,(not being able to see the one on passenger side) i had no clue it wasn't firing.
