Re: Is any one familiar with this TBI performance chip???
It isn't a chip, it is a potentiometer (a variable resistor) that takes the place of the IAT. Forget it. For $199 + 9.99 ship, wait, it's at a reduced price of what? $89 + 9.99 shipping.

Go over to Radio Shack and buy a 100K pot for $2.49 and wire that in. That is all it is.

It would be interesting to try it and see how it works out (the Radio Shack potentiometer!!) just to let us know what happens. In this case I'm not kidding. For 2 - 3 bucks it it worth trying it out. By trying stuff is how we learn what works and what doesn't.

Re: Is any one familiar with this TBI performance chip???
hey if you want a REAL chip that plugs into your computer go to this guy http://www.tbichips.com/ , been running a chip he burned for me for over 5 years now, no trouble, BIG difference and NO SPEED LIMITER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol i told him my mods and all and hi burned it, also there is no core charge, he also sells on ebay i think, do a search for CAMARO TBI CHIP it should put a bigger smile on your face, and i got the potentiometer , cant say if it was worth it or not, maybe at the track you might see some numbers but its not a seat of pants diff........ BTW anyone have a table chart of the ohms to temp (as in how many ohms of res , does the stock IAT puts out at X temp)?? then i will make sure mine is within range to even be properly suited for my car, will tell results.

Re: Is any one familiar with this TBI performance chip???
temp in F~~ohms
5~~~~~~~21450
14~~~~~~16180
23~~~~~~12300
32~~~~~~9420
41~~~~~~7280
50~~~~~~5670

if that table is correct than mine reads about -40 on its coldest setting and about 110 on its highest, dont really notice a diff from up or down, i think im going back with the stock IAT, back into the breather, going to have to go custom, as i have an open element, im going to put a post up and see what other people think, it will be in the TBI section with IAT or Resistor as the subject

I bought a chip from Brian at tbichips.com a while back and then put my car on the dyno. I took it out immediately after.

Just sayin'.

Re: Is any one familiar with this TBI performance chip???
No you won't see any improvement with either, the futher you mod your vehicle the worse it will run with either of these "mods". Your best bet is to ignore the computer mods untill you have replaced the full exhaust from the headers to the tips, then you need to look into DIY tuning. The problem with mail order chips is that there are litterally 1000's of parameters that need tweaked to your particular combo. On top of that you can take two identical combo's and the tune can be 5-15% different. What I'm getting at is that it is impossible to make up a tune out of thin air. To "Tune" a vehicle is an iterative process that takes lots of trial and error to get right.

Re: Is any one familiar with this TBI performance chip???
are you saying that these chips wont make a difference at all or if you run both of them, and also what does waiting to install my exhasut system have to do with these chips ?

If you have stock exhaust, then trying to mod the computer is just pissing in the wind. Your engine is so choked off and running so inefficiently that computer tuning is almost a waste of time. Get the engine breathing right, make it run as efficently as it can on the stock tune first.

Re: Is any one familiar with this TBI performance chip???
Either chip is a waste of money, either together or apart. What I'm saying is that tuning really isn't needed untill you've modded the car enough to make it necesary. On these cars a full exhaust is about as far as you can go before tuning is needed. When you get to this level, don't look to a mail order chip or one of these resistors. You'll either need to learn to tune yourself, or pay a shop to do it for you.

Let me repeat myself ........mail order tunes are worse than stock tuning. There is no humanly possible way to tune these cars from a mod list. It takes lots of trial and error.

Re: Is any one familiar with this TBI performance chip???
Exactly right, trust him, nothing will make you happier once you have done significant mods than tuning your own chip, im a true beleiver on that. The little bit of learning it takes to do it and the results you get far out weigh the hoping and disappointment of another mail order part not working the way you think it will work.

Re: Is any one familiar with this TBI performance chip???
I think it would cost less, be more fun, and you would definatley get a better understanding of how your car and engine work with the computer if you would do it yourself. Everything you would need to know, or need to get can be found here.

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tbi/...ee-tune-7.html

go about half way down the page and there is post by me laying out where to get all the stuff. Also take a good look through that whole thread, BMmonte helped me out with learning about the chip process, there is alot of good info there

Re: Is any one familiar with this TBI performance chip???
Why can't you TBI guys get that? Even after years and years of it being said and all the stickies. DIY tuning is the only way to go.

Re: Is any one familiar with this TBI performance chip???
A "chip" from any person or buisness that does not take your car and put it on a dyno or spend lots of time tuning on the street falls under the "crap" catagory.

DIY tuning is the process of getting a chip burner and the free software that we have available and learning to tune the ECM for your particular engine. Check out the link that XJ listed, it lays it all out for you.
