is this a TBI prom?

9980ASFAThis TBI car isn't running good and I looked everywhere on the net and can't find this broadcast code anywhere. So I'm wondering if this really isn't the right PROM for the car. the car is actually a 91 camaro with a TBI motor.

Do you know ECM part number, 1228746??? It would be easier to work from ECM part number.

sorry the ecm label is unreadable. I've seen websites with a bunch of broadcast numbers however this one I can't seem to find anywhere. Maybe it a ecm out of another car type.

Re: is this a TBI prom?

That PROM is for a 16136965 ECM from a '91 Caprice LO3, TBI. At key-on, engine-off does the SES do the blink? If so then I'd quess that a different ECM was swapped in.

Yes the check engine light blinks when the key is turned on. I will try a ANTS in the ecm and see what it does that seems to be a common prom for a later TBI camaro.

Re: is this a TBI prom?

I didn't explain the SES blink very well. Does the SES do a single blink off then come on solid? That is OK and what it should do.

If it is continuously blinking then it is the wrong PROM in the ECM.

Re: is this a TBI prom?

Yes it just keeps blinking which is why I assumed the problem was ecm related. I got the correct ECM now just need to hit a bone yard and find a prom for it.

Re: is this a TBI prom?

Maybe, finding a replacement ECM with a matching EPROM, from a similar car, will be simpler. A used ECM can be had for about $40 from JY.
