BELT SIZES? need sum info
i am wondering, since i have taken off my a/c compressor and my smog pump. can i just use a smaller belt, instead of buying an a/c delete pulley?
and is there a way NOT TO USE the a/c delete pulley? i think thats pointless

Re: BELT SIZES? need sum info
Not easily. You need something to loop the belt around on that side of the engine before it gets to the tensioner or the tensioner won't have 2 pulleys to tension the belt between.
A/C delete pulley, 96.8" belt and a slightly modified belt routing. See the tech article on this board about it. Not tough to do at all.

Re: BELT SIZES? need sum info
im trying not delete the tensioner, and the delete pulley and smog pump.
this is wat i was thinking:
1. can i remove the alt and put it where the a/c compressor was and still use the tensioner?
2. remove the tensioner, remove the compressor and smog and use a V6
V-belt pulley setup?
3. keep the tensioner there, find a smaller belt size and do this?

Im trying not to use the delete pulley becuz it is pointless and stupid in my eyes, if any1 has any ideas on how to do this please help me out thanx

Re: BELT SIZES? need sum info
I have done this on two vehicles.
-First, Remove A/c and smog
-Second, purchase shorter belt and pulley
-Third, grind back of pulley to provide adequate clearance
-Forth, swap over new pulley and belt
-Fifth, enjoy
I don't believe I have the part numbers with me on the belt and pulley; however they are readily available at your local parts store. You will be using a shorter belt and a grooved 6 rib pulley on your tensioner.
When I get home, I will post part numbers, pictures, and routing.

Re: BELT SIZES? need sum info
a freind of myne gave me an idea of takin off the tensioner and using a 50" belt and routing it with the PS pump, crank, water pump and alt.
do you think that will work?
and if u can get me the parts # for your stuff it would be great

The part number for the pulley is 89009 (Dayco number) and I will have to double check the belt tomorrow in daylight. I believe its like a 715k6, but I could be mistaken.
