GM performacne 350/290 HP

i have a 1990 RS with a 305 tbi
i want to swap it out for a 350

can i get this motor, and an eldebrock preformer tbi intake manifold, and keep my tbi setup, and just get a bigger tbi, like the holley 670.

Or is this crate engine for carb only?

Also same question, different engine. The 350/330 HO run with GM TBI vortec intake manifold. can i keep the tbi or not?

UGH, Unless you Know how to Tune.... Your Wasting Time. Get a LS engine, 5.3L or something and do the swap.. Good HP and Decent MPG

Re: GM performacne 350/290 HP

For a straight-up swap that you can take all of your old parts off and put them on the new engine, this is a good candidate:

http://www.rebuilt-auto-engines.com/...33108103304.58

And it's a good deal ... price and warranty. And it is a straight-up replacement for your motor, only with the bigger displacement of the 350.

That 350/290 is an older-style 350 that is intended for carb and no smog equipment.

Re: GM performacne 350/290 HP

so would either one of those motors work the 350/290 HP with the eldebrock tbi intake.
or the 330 HO with the tbi vortec intake.
all i wanna know is if it is possible?

Re: GM performacne 350/290 HP

You can use tbi with any engine made for a carb as long as you can tune it and have enough air/fuel flow through the injection system.

Re: GM performacne 350/290 HP

Thats' a Goodwrench 350, not a GM Performance 350. It's a pretty pathetic motor honestly. That 290hp is with full headers, no accessories, and at the flywheel. In a real world situation you'd be lucky to see 200hp out of it, more ilke 175.

Enough to make a 5,800 lbs van run like this

or a much lighter C1500 truck do this

Re: GM performacne 350/290 HP

Tbi can be very versitle if you learn how to tune. I never tuned using the stock ECM or PCM, but using the EBL (uilt 383 stroker) has been pretty simple so far, but far from plug and play.

If you want good power and economy, do ALOT of reading on these forums for tuning and you can utilize TBI. If you want plug & play get a 5.3 like sugested above.
