New Engine

So my car is finally finished. I have a 92 camaro rs with a 383 tbi in it. It passed CA smog and everything. Only took about 4 months but that includes the engine swap, transmission rebuilding, and rear end getting rebuilt plus all the small issues I ran into. Ill include some pictures of the engine before it was put it. I'll have to take some more of it in the car since I had to change all the plugs again it looks a little bit different.

Re: New Engine

Good to hear.
Feels good to have done that too.
Little bit harder with CA emissions too.

Re: New Engine

What size injectors and throttle body did you choose and who did you source them from?

Re: New Engine

I used the tbi unit from the 305 and put 350 fuel injectors in it.

Re: New Engine

The engine is a 383 it was made to look like a 305 for smog though.*hint* the 5.7 on the block was grinded to 5.? and then painted. The cam in it is the comp cam 12-388-4. The heads on it is World S/R Torquer. By no means does this engine make massive power it made about 295 horsepower and 400 lbs of torque.

Re: New Engine

Here's some pictures of the block. I haven't had time to take pictures of the engine in the car but I will once I have time.

Re: New Engine

where does CA stand on the Vortec L31 heads? last i know it wasn't legal, even if you retained the EGR. i guess neither the GMPP intake, nor the heads carry an EO #.

Re: New Engine

As far as I know Vortec heads aren't legal in CA unless the car came with them. Otherwise you have to update all of your smog to a car that came with those heads. I haven't seen any with a CARB sticker or anything. I just got my registration sticker on today I'll take some more pics of the engine in the car. Looks a little difference since I had to change all my spark plug wires again.

It was at 4500 rpm. I haven't gotten my transmission adjusted yet to shift higher.
