All of a sudden today my firebird just started acting wierd! When I sit idle it just dies!! I have to keep it rev'ed up just to keep it running. The temp. is fine, also the oil and voltage are fine too. What could it be?? Please help!

Re: Engine trouble !!

How old is your fuel filter?
Do you have an engine light?
Could be something like the IAC, or TPS.
Does it do it cold, hot, or both.
If it only does it when it's hot it could be the ignition control module.
How old are the spark plugs and wires?
How about the cap and rotor?

I just changed the fuel filter when I changed the spark plugs, engine light is on. also just changed the rotor and wires maybe a month ago. But tried to start this morning before work and it didn't do anything.

Re: Engine trouble !!

First figure out what code has been stored that caused the check engine light to come on.

First figure out what code has been stored that caused the check engine light to come on. Once we can determine what code it is we can go from there.
