I think I am going to buy a LT1 cam some lifters and springs. I am not sure what all I would need to do to put a cam in? Take off intake, timing cover, water pump, valve covers, radiator... Thats it right? Do it in the car in a night?

I look to do this in a day or so with me and my buddies, i have no prom tuning software but I do have a AFPR mod and winaldl but cant do anytthing searious with those. I am seariously considering and EBL flash system for simplicity but it cost more than I want to spend. I would like to do a set of vortec heads and intake too but thats another story. With all of these mods I would like to run low low 9s in 8th and still get 20mpg.

What springs and lifters will I be best off using, and as far as tuning software whats good? I downloaded the tuner car preview and don't like it. The simpler the better. Until then I will continue my reaserch.

get the tuning stuff before you take off the first bolt. You don't want to get it all done and it run like poo. Some people have been lucky and got it to run with minor tweeking of the dizzy timing and bumping up the fuel pressure but it's a hit or miss. If all else fails you can use a tbichips chip to at least get you out the door. While it won't be a perfect tune by a long shot from what I'm told it will at least make the car drivable.
