90 RS something simple I'm sure, but I can't figure it out.

It started last year and I parked it. I finally said I am going to fix this car. It's a 90rs TBI, the only way I can get it to run is to pour gas into the TB, once the car burns the all the gas it dies again and wont start unless i keep pouring gas in the TB. The Tb seems to be spraying the gas correctly, I think it's something electronic... I have been working on these cars a long time now and this is about the only thing that I can't seem to get straightened out, someone please help.....

Just bought an 90 RS and had the same issue.
More than likely it's the fuel pump. But fist check the fuse for the pump to make sure it's not just blown.
The fuel pump fuse is located where the battery is in a holder. Pop it open and check the fuse. If it's fine than about a 90% chance you'll have to get a new fuel pump.

Have fun since the pump is in the fuel tank and you have to lower the tank, to get to it or cut an access hole in your trunk.

99 percent of the time it is the fuel pump output hose inside gas tank has rotted out and fuel pressure is around 1 to 2PSI instead of 13 PSI.

Get ready to drop your tank and R&R Fuel pump. To be sure check Fuel pressure if you can.

If it was the fuel pump, I wouldn't think the gas would be spraying out to the throttle body like it is. When I pour gas in the throttle body I can rev the engine up, and it sounds great, then all of the sudden it runs out of gas, but the more I push the pedal the more gas comes out of the throttle body, but it still wont run...Hit me back and let me know if yours was doing the same...

can you tell me the correct pressure?? I have a pressure tester just don't know the psi

approx 12. more importantly 12 under load but that requires a gauge taped to windshield !

With busted FP output to feed through hose (inside gas tank) you may get couple of PSI - enough for injectors to spray (drip ) fuel and let engine run for a short time. But it is not enough for sustained operation. Like Ronny said you should see no less then 12 PSI under load.
So far you have described classic FP hose / clogged FP filter sysmptom.

Agreed. When my fuel pump died many moons ago I registered 4 PSI which was just enough to confuse me into thinking the pump was ok. Time for a TPI/Walbro unit.

Re: 90 RS something simple I'm sure, but I can't figure it out.

The fuel pressure on my stock L03 was 11 psi. By modding the regulator to make it adjustable, I currently have 15 psi.

Are you sure what's coming out of the injectors is good fuel? It might not be if it's been sitting for a long time.
