fuel pump door
well my fuel pump on the camaro went out and needed to change it. and i know you guys either like this way or relay hate it and bash down on me, but i wanted to do the fuel door method instead. so i have been searching for a parts list on what i would need to do the job and some pics i guess. i wanted to use some fittings to hook the fuel lines back up. so could someone please help me out? thanks

Re: fuel pump door
well i have found a couple of threads about this fuel pump door mod, but i havent realy found what type of parts people use like 3/8's fittings, what type and where do i get them? what do i need to do the job? thanks.
Re: fuel pump door
You just need a flaring tool and the right fittings.
You will not want a 37 Degree, that's for AN fittings.
You could do either a single or double flare. Just make sure you get the right fittings for which ever you do.
Oh, you will want a 45 degree flaring tool.

Note that you will need to either cut & splice the hardlines at the top of the tank. Or, you will need to cut a 3-foot slice out of the back of the car.

Re: fuel pump door
By the time you go through all the time and effort to cut the hole, try to cut the lines cleanly through a tiny hole, get the flaring tool, cut up your hands/forearms badly, change it out, get the fittings to seal and not leak and then properly patch the hole, you could pull the axle down and just do it the proper way. If you do a search theres the great debate about this, but really when it comes to time invested, what's another hour or two? Plus you could change some bushings and maybe even the diff. fluid while you're ripping things apart.
Personally I'm thinking about pulling mine down and just using a fuel pickup, then mounting an inline pump near the filter. Nice and easy to get to if any work has to be done. Haven't worked out the specifics but it should work pretty good.
