cheep diy open element

i want to tell all you guys how i made my own open element for my car. first i need to note that it only works with a cowl hood.

first i got a filter out of a 75monte carlo

then take top lid and flip it upside down. and you got it. i just took a plasma cutter and cut the lips off mine for room

Damn! nice idea.. A friend of mine gave me an edelbrock base, I bought a 14" paper filter, and found a K&N lid at home..

Re: cheep diy open element

yeah like i said you dont need to cut that stuff off but the top is important for clearance. i drove around for a year or so with it like that. and you can really hear the injectors and the sucking sound. kinda cool and loud.

hack saw or cutoff blade on angle grinder might work also to cut off metal.
just trying to save ppl money:-)

Re: cheep diy open element

you dont like chrome but since it was free you use it. if you dont like it you dont like it. anyway it doesnt matter. it works for you and thats all that matters. it sure looks like a nice car from your signatur pic.

That hood is insane! I don't know if I like it or not but you can't help but look at it. Is that a cowl AND side inlets?
