HoneyComb Air Intake for Camaro?
HoneyComb Air Intake for Camaro?
Does anyone know if a Honeycomb open air element will work with a tbi carb?
I am thinking of picking one up today... they are kinda old school.. but I think it is a good solution for my car with a cowl hood..
Thanks in advance.
EDIT- Installed.. and looks good to boot!! And you can DEFINITELY tell it is on there when you start it up
.
Shoulda went with that the first time lol.

i herd those have a tendency of catching fire could be just on carbed motors when out of tune just a thought.

I have that on my 92 stock hood. Useless other than looks because when you close the hood it smothers the intake. You have to use that stock riser so the mouting bracket clears the injectors BARLEY.

....and only brings in hot underhood air to your engine, reducing what little horsepower a TBI has to begin with.

i have one on mine it comes with two holes in it so you can run your air sensor its not a hard install you can do it in 10 minutes i have had mine for 2 years and you can wash it with soap and water i dont see how it gets plugged easly unless you take your camaro mudding and you dont have to woory about it rubbing your distrubtor cap theres plenty of clearance all around i got mine for 19 bucks i got it because it ws cheaper than a filter by itself

Something you are all failing to realize, is that I have a COWL hood.. which is the exact reason I have the open element. And as far as the spacer being necessary to "barely" clear the injectors? I don't know what you are talking about, because I have a TON of clearance with only a 1/2" spacer.

i would not run that air cleaner. it catches fire easily, gets plugged easily. and looks crappy. just get a k&n flow thru lid and filter assembly if you have a cowl and want an open element. looks much better and works and filters much better.

A cowl induction hood is more of a EXTRACTION hood. Without a sealed intake/filter system, at speed, the air flow over the top is creating a suction, drawing hot air up & out. So your just engine is just breathing hot air. No cold air is coming in.
In the 69 cowl induction hoods, the engine compartment hot air wasn't being extracted. The car was breathing through a sealed system, to the outside.
All an open cowl does, is look good from the outside.
As far as "And as far as the spacer being necessary to "barely" clear the injectors? I don't know what you are talking about, because I have a TON of clearance with only a 1/2" spacer."...You quoted ME when you replied, yet included that comment? I said NOTHING about any spacer.

These air filters are nicknamed "Flaming Triangles of Death" for a reason....
