TBI to carb
So i kno i am going to bring get told "search for this, its a common thing" Well i have spent the last 2 hours searching this on this site and have yet to find exactly what i am looking for.
I have a 91 Camaro RS (VIN shows E for the L03 motor) Original owner told me he had swapped the motor for a 350 with a two barrel carb, but looks like a 305 with TBI to me. But moving on to the real question here.
Would it be worth it to swap TBI for a Carb? If so, what does it involve? Costs? Would it be better to buy upgrades etc for a TBI or Carb? I have a Holley 4 barrel Single Pumper (was told 650, havent investigated this one either yet lol) and possibly an manifold for a 4 barrel carb, but i kno it cant be as easy as i am thinking. Please enlighten me with some more information on this situation.
Thanks,
Troy

Re: TBI to carb
hmm i tried looking for it to and its not there anymore.. i used that as a source when i first wanted to learn about the carb swap.
basically your only going to need a couple things.
1 a carburator intake manifold get a used edelbrock performer intake for around 70 bucks
2 a non computer controlled distributer 100 bucks
3 a carburator 250 bucks get a holley 600 if you dont already have a carb
4 an AFPR (adjustable fuel pressure regulator) i prefer the Mallory 4309 80 bucks
5 a bracket for your throttle cable and your passing gear linkage (if its automatic tranny) free
6 a way to lock up your torque converter. you can get one from summit for like 70 bucks.
getting used things is much cheaper, but if you buy new from summit your get a warrenty. those are pretty much all the things your going to need. oh and an open weekend a couple cases of beer and a friend or two. if you need anything you can pm me.

Re: TBI to carb
carb is easier to tweak if you're not computer savvy, but not necessarily as optimized throughout the full power band as a good tuning would do.
i also liked that making changes were not limited to what the computer would allow.
both setups have their pros and cons. I went carbed because I swapped in a 400ci/th350, had all the parts lying around, and didnt have the time to get the computer going with a setup that never came computerized

Re: TBI to carb
If you are posting here on tgo you have anough skills to handel the computer part involved in tuning EFI with the nice and powerful EBL flash.
Tuninig a carb is very limited compared to what EBL "the beast" will allow you to do.
Definally plug in an EBL flash if you have EFI, before you swap to carb, to know what you are missing.
