Spark Advance?? Please help!

I have a 1983 Camaro 305 TBI crossfire injection. It will not rev past 2500 rpms. I replaced the cap and rotor and noticed the metal piece under the rotor will not turn for the spark advance. How do i fix it? please help. I sprayed it with wd40 still aint working

Re: Spark Advance?? Please help!

The metal piece under the rotor shouldn't move. So that is good.

The spark advance is controlled by the ECM.

Yea, but it should open up a little , because when that spins around it has to open to spark faster for the higher speed/rpm right?

Re: Spark Advance?? Please help!

You do not have mechanical advance in your distributor, the ECM does this electronically, so those metal wings under the cap do not move.

What does your timing light tell you ?
