Re: WHATS WRONG?
two things come to mind if you are using the old ballancer it could have slipped or the mark on the timing cover could simply not match the ballancer I think you need to verify tdc....unless you are simply fighting the oil pump drive if so there are two ways to deal with that. one is to get a long screwdriver and line it up the other is to have the engine set to tdc install the dist, rotate the eng. by hand untill the dist. falls into the oil drive, and then verrify proper install. it is easyto be off a tooth.

Re: WHATS WRONG?
I guessed that h/b slipped out of place, but I don't understan why it does not point to #1 when at "tdc" with #1 up at conpersion stroke..... and second I have a second motor laying around the house and can put the distbiour in it with no problem acutlley I have two distbiors and they both go in fine but my stroker no go... it fills like the cam moved?... can that happen?

Re: WHATS WRONG?
anything is possable, but not likely, if it goes in but will not go all the way down, try to install it off a tooth, one at a time, sounds like the oil pump drive is off, work one tooth at a time untillitwill go down if it will, then get along flat head screw driver and line the pump drive up,i hope this helps

Re: WHATS WRONG?
so..it won't go in no matter where the rotor is pointing?...sounds bad you might want to have someone local look at it. sorry out of ideas mabe the cam is messed up... seems unlikly if it was running before you pulled dist.

Re: WHATS WRONG?
The dist should slide in with a little jiggling atleast to within 1/2" of the intake surface. If it wont make it this far the intake may be shifted or there is something stuck in the cam gear. Look into the hole and see if the aligenment of the intake looks good.
