How to get 300rwhp out of my 305?

How to get 300rwhp out of my 305?

Just got a 92 ws6 that came with the 305tbi and im totally bummed about the lack of performance out of the motor that came with the car. Im looking to get 300HP to the wheels with the 305 motor+ bolt ons. Is that possible?

If you have a 300rwhp 305 sound off and let me know there is performance in this motor. I am on a budget .. dont want to deal with a tpi swap.

305 is not the best for performance, if it was mine: change the heads and rear end gears so at least it gets out of the hole better, intake new carb etc etc.

mite wanna just look for a 350 on the cheep

Anything is possible with LOTS OF $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, but with just bolt-ons, not even close to 300 rwhp.

Guys so with H/C/I its not possible to hit 300HP with the TBI setup in the car? Now, I am not talking about using stock parts. Im talking about with the 5.0L displacement. I dont want to go out and buy a motor, then build that motor. I'd rather rebuild the 305 I already have and add on go fast parts.

It is possible but your gonna need higher compression plus H/C/I and your gonna have to put a carb on it. its gonna cost you. If your wanting that kind of power without nitrous it would be cheaper to get a 350. Trust me i had the same kind of goal for mine at one point and it was gonna set me back $3000+.

I hear you. I just found a 96 vortec 350 from a suburban for about 200 bucks. I guess if its not worth it.. then i'll just buy a buildable core. Please tell me with the vortec 350 i can hit that mark :P

N/A thats not a easy task. Will probably behave like a race engine, wich is no big fun to drive around.

The TBI set up can easy be upgraded to support 300rwhp.

Build the 350 while your driving the 305. Easier to high 300 with the 350 (more cubes + better heads), less downtime when you swap engines plus you may be able to sell the 305 & get SOME $ to help pay for the 350.

Like mentioned before, not going to be cheap. I'm going to build my 305 up to keep me entertained while I build my LT1.
I'm looking for around 250. Getting some headers, exhaust, better gears, and then spraying.
Heads, exhaust, carb it, spray it. That's my suggestion. I don't know if you'll hit 300 but it'll be good enough for a while.
