HSR on swirl port heads
I have an L05 truck. Has anybody ever put a Holley Stealth Ram on an L05? I plan to put an LT1 cam in also, and do some mild porting on the heads.
Later on there may be a head swap in the works, but If I could get some gas mileage increase and somewhere north of 250hp and 330ft-lbs, with the looks of the stealth ram I'd be happy.
So would it be a total dog? Or decent?

I feel sorry for your engine...you want to install an HSR for WHAT,..looks??
I'm simply speechless...
Well maybe except for the fact that you are MILES from maximizing the use of your TBI...

Re: HSR on swirl port heads
My last setup was a 87 TPI was LO5 crate engine, swirl port heads and LT1 cam. It ran great with tons of torque. I did some tuning but never really optimized the setup. I just switched to vortec heads, zz4 cam and ramjet intake. I plan to use the EBL to tune. This has yet to run.
I agree with DSGx that a TPI would be a better fit. I have some datalogs if you are interested.

Re: HSR on swirl port heads
I just wanted to know if the mismatch would pose too much of a problem for it to effiicient. I plan on going with the EBL as well. Would I lose potential gas mileage with the L05 and stealth ram compared to a TPI intake?

It would be one mixed up turd is all I can think.
If you are doing it for fun have at it, though it doesn't smell right to me. Just make fun your only goal and you'll be successful.

Re: HSR on swirl port heads
My friend put the stealth ram on his stock L98 IROC along with headers. He saw some very good results from that. I have read that L05 heads ported are close to the flow of an L98 head so would it really be that bad?

Re: HSR on swirl port heads
Ok, lets say I clean up the L05 heads, get an edelbrock TBI intake, put in the Lt1 cam, and get an EBL. This would end up being cheaper than going MPFI even with good used parts.
Would TPI or the HSR benefit me more in this instance, than staying TBI, where torque, power, and gas mileage are concerned?

Re: HSR on swirl port heads
Addressing the cam & heads will gain you the most.
TBI mods & intake will support those gains.
The EBL is your best bet for tuning as you can have one tune for max performance & another for max economy, switching back & forth can be done on the fly.
