Dual Snorkel 70-72 Camaro on TBI?

I was going to install a dual snorkel from a L69 on my 89 TBI Bird. Then I saw on ebay a dual snorkel new for 70-72 Camaro and it does not have the Thermac on either side. Anyone ever try this from that model? It looks like it should fit. Comments.

Thermac is a simple and smart device. The inlets are a little small but maybe you can open them up some.

Though it's better to start the race with the engine up to operating themperature, in wich case the thermac is not active anyway.

Mainly curious if it fits with little modifications. I saw reproduction 70-72 dual complete on ebay for $200 and they sure look close but I have access to the stock L69 set up.

cant say for sure if it will clear the a/c compressor. plus if you still have the smog pump and diverter valve installed, as well as the heater valve.....the inlet tubes being longer on those older cars could hit

Re: Dual Snorkel 70-72 Camaro on TBI?

I was thinking about the same mod for my 1989 TBI.

Another alternative would be to weld another snorkel on the other side of the existing airbox.

I currently have my car stored for the winter season, but as soon as I get it out I will get me some polystyrene foam and shape up a dual snorkel setup out of that to measure whether it fits or hits.

A third alternative would be to fall back on a 3rd party solution as the ones offered by a company named "spectre", but that would kind of spoil the stock look of the vehicle, whereas with a dual snorkel setup it would still look "as shipped" to the uninitiated.

I ended up with one big snorkle on the driver's side, lots of space there

Hey thanks guys for the input. The DIY one very impressive. Nicely done. Now I have some great information and experience from others.

Re: Dual Snorkel 70-72 Camaro on TBI?

I tried the dual snorkel on my 91 and the back of it would not go down all the way because of the distributor. might could be fixed, don't know.

The thermac device is only held in with a small diameter pin. You can cut it out and free any obstruction in the intake path.
