Need help! 89 TBI

I have an 89 camaro with a tbi. I swapped a rebuilt engine in and now i'm making the final connections but I am having trouble remembering some of the connections and was hoping you guys could help me out.

First thing, I feel like i'm missing something. I dont know where the plug on the left side of my distributor goes. There is a similar plug that I also dont know where it goes; it is the gray one that is in the picture.

Also where does the coil wire on my dizzy cap go.

I feel like I'm missing something.

Re: Need help! 89 TBI

your missing your coil. both of those connectors go the coil. and the coil plug wire off of the distributor goes to the coil tower. You need a coil

Re: Need help! 89 TBI

the coil on my 89 tbi is located and should be located between the distributer and the carb. mounted by two bolts onto the intake. one of those connections goes on the coil first, then the other snaps into the slot next to it...in sequence. Then the spark plug wire goes from that coil to the center of the distributor plug.

yup you'll see the two holes, one hole is shared with the throttle/tv cable bracket mounting hole. it'll be easy. just find the coil

Whatever it is, I would take it out and stick a small plug in it. Had the same problem with a 82 el camino. Just bought a small plug with same threads and covered it up. Might be due to a different intake, ect.

Re: Need help! 89 TBI

that's an oil pressure feed for an oil pressure gauge or sending unit. if you're not using a mechanical gauge, just plug it off. Or replace it with an electronic sending unit so you can have an oil pressure gauge.

Re: Need help! 89 TBI

i didnt get a chance to start it tonight, but quick question... is there some sort of blow off valve on the passenger side of the throttle body... because when I was trying to start it a couple days ago it was almost like it was igniting from that side or blowing off air in the line or something.

Re: Need help! 89 TBI

no you should not hear any air noises if everything is hooked up properly. Check and make sure all your vacuum lines are properly connected, spark plugs tight, etc. You should also have PCV valve connected and crankcase properly vented.

There is no 'blow off valve' in TB - you are probably hearing IAC trying to reset itself

The noise i was talking about was backfiring in the throttlebody, not sure if it was old fuel or bad timing causing the issue, but i got it started... now i just need some help with what I can plug up and which vacuum lines go where... I'm in the homestretch guys... just a little more help that I would greatly appreciate.

This line was coming from the passenger side of the engine compartment, not sure where it goes but it is pretty long.

Also where does the line go to from the egr valve?

Thanks guys for all of your help in advance, this has been a long build for me and I've learned a lot along the way. I will be sure to upload a video to youtube when I get the finishing touches done.

That should be connected to a hose leading to the passenger side firewall(approximatley right behind the passenger side valve cover). It runs down to I honestly dont know where. But usually these hoses break right behind the valve cover. This, from what i was told controls the defog inside your car. Hope this helps.

Re: Need help! 89 TBI

EGR valve on my truck motor, goes to an EGR solenoid mounted on the intake manifold near the EGR. There's a vacuum line that goes to the input on the solenoid, and the output side goes to the EGR.

I needed some help figuring out what some of these hoses and wires are suppose to lead to on my 89 305 tbi. The top photo is because the rpm gauge is always just topped out. How do I fix this issue? The center picture is of the front driverside behind the headlights... There are various hoses that I dont know exactly what they're suppose to lead to. Maybe you guys can help. And the bottom picture is of a few wires. Do i need these?

Re: Need help! 89 TBI

not sure about all of it, but the red arrow line should be vacuum feed to your cruise control unit. it should be direct to vacuum i believe. the other hose sitting on your canister purge, not sure what that goes to.
