I have a L03 305 TBI...it's lightly modded, and I was putting a JEGS TBI spacer on my car yesterday. But when I was unscrewing the fuel lines from the back of the TBI unit, it twisted the line and snapped it in half, mangled it all to hell. I hadn't ever taken off the fuel lines before, and was just too forceful. I just don't know how to fix it. I'll try and upload pics tomorrow. I just don't know how to fix a break in the fuel line like that...I really don't want to replace the whole line, does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?!?

 

You can make a new line pretty easy out of brake line from the parts store that has the correct fittings on it. Buy a tube bender which is cheap and bend it to match the old one, or hit up a junk yard and grab one off a car.

If it were me I would just make a new one. It is very easy to do if you can find the line with the proper fittings on each end already. You can fix it for about $20 or less.

change the line it only goes from the tbi to the rubber hoses like 3 feet long. Go to the junkyard and pull the line off of another car and then install it on yours. boom! problem solved. Next time check here and we will all tell you the tbi spacer is damn near worthless

 

I have read time and time and time again threads and statements that disagree with your post. Tbi spacers work in the same way carb spacers work. TB spacers on a dry intake are worthless. TBI not so much.

 

I heard the spacer could help, alittle with some low end torque and better gas mileage....also the hard lines coming out of the TBI really lead to rubber ones?

 

well thier rubber with fittings on the end. follow them they come out of the TBI run down the intake, across off the engine. Thier are two rubber fuel lines there. Just pop your head and you'll see.

 

Dont know anything about the spacers...

This is kind of funny ... I have a 91 although I'm sure its got the same fuel line setup...

Take a look at this picture of my engine bay and note the fuel lines coming from the rear of the TBI:



See the fuel lines going to the rubber lines. You wont have that red regulator chunk but same thing. Those lines are only about 3ft long.

Spraying old nuts and bolts with liquid wrench before removal is a good idea too. Let it soak a while too.

Ok, can anyone help me out? I've looked through all the junkyards around me, none of the camaro's or firebirds had a L03 in them, and all the yards said they didn't think they had any vehicles with an L03 in them. So I can't get the lines of a junker... anyone got some lying around by chance?!?

 

I am sure you can find somebody who has them. But without sounding like a dick, your making this so hard on yourself. Just go to the parts store buy a line and bend it up. It is so simple. IMHO if you cannot perform this task you probably shouldn't be repairing your car.

 

If you weren't so far away, you could get the one I have. It's functional but has a few small dings in the supply line, and needs new o-rings. I wouldn't know how to package it, and I think you'd pay more in shipping than what I paid for the one I replaced it with. You could probably replace it with some braided line with the correct fittings.

 

If you have not fixed it yet...
Replacing the line is probably the best way but, there are adapters available to convert to an style inverted flare, to ss braided. The ss braided can be hard to work with if you have not done it before.

Just to let you know there are other options depending on your skill level...

 

If you still need these, I've got a pair of good solid OEM lines I could let you have for reasonable, but the size might make shipping spendy, I don't know they are light though. PM or email me your email address for pics or other info, Henry
