10 sec to start
10 sec to start
Hi guys! I have a problem that I can't figure out! When I start my car, it takes about 10 second to start. It starts right after the oil pressure gauge start to rize. First I thought that it could be the fuel relay, because it looks like the backup circuit take the place of the relay. But when I look at my injectors during the 10 seconds of cranking, I can see fuel coming out of them. So do you think that the relay could be in cause even if I see fuel?

you see fuel but do you see enough fuel. it sure sounds like your relay is faulty. around 20 bucks at your local parts store and 5 minutes to put on.

I dont think they are the same but I could be mistaken. I guess you can compare the #'s on them and if they are the same then it should work.
Re: 10 sec to start
the fanb and fuel pump relays are the same. make sure you are getting the prime from the ecm to. im not using my fan relay. so i cut the connector wires and then plugged it back in as a spare if i ever need it. and have it mounted right next to the fuel one.
also there should be a red wire with a connector on it at the fuel pump relay. put power to that wire and then try to start it.

Basically, relays are relays (in the auto world). As long as the connectors match up (some relays are oval, some are square, some small, some large), they can be swapped for testing and such. There are rare cases where relays are higher amps (most standards are 30 amps, some are 40 or even 60 amps), but in this generation of car I think all are simple 30 amp SPDT relays.
