Re: Tbi adapter with carb intake

The distributor has to engage the oil pump drive shaft as it meshes w/ the cam gear.
I know the early 90s caprice tbi engines had a different distributor & hole.

Re: Tbi adapter with carb intake

I take a slotted screwdriver and turn it to the proper point to make the distributor shaft drop into it

Re: Tbi adapter with carb intake

Well I got the dist to drop but its about 1/4 too long and the stopping point on it is too big to fit in the hole in the back of the intake.

Re: Tbi adapter with carb intake

Put the dist. in a vise, knock the roll pin out & pull off the gear. Then see if you can seat the dist. in the hole.
Take a picture of the hole if you can.

you should be looking to see if the main body of the distributor is going to fit in the hole in the intake. if im not mistaken there are 2 different size distributors and also 3 different size shafts. somebody will correct me if im wrong.
if this is something you have jumped into without the knowledge to do it you need to stop what your doing and research. you can destroy your engine if you screw up the right way.

Re: Tbi adapter with carb intake

The ring on the dist is too big there is about 1/4 inch difference between the carb intake and tbi intake .
