My machinist has this cam that he said thinks came out of a Caprice Police car

Looks strange to me as the nose where the cam gear goes is steped and it has a hole drilled in the center that is deep into the cam..It also does not have a lob for the fuel pump...

stock roller cams had a step to work with the block retainer and no fuel pump lobe becose it is a efi cam. the hole is for the optispark drive.

What kind of engine is this going into? You can use it in a roller block, but if its an older block w/o the provisions, forget it.

to pull a trailer.
I have a 454TBI and a set of 083 heads and LT1 roller block..I was thinking of getting a roller cam from a Caprice as they were a heavy car and cam profile was different with more low end.
I will be getting a ELB from Rob and play with it with the engine that's in it now to get use to the program..
What is "Optispark"???Will this cam work with out it ??
Any help you guys have will be appreciated...

I dont know the specs offhand. I think its larger than the stock cams, but not as big as the LT4 cam.

The opti-spark was just the ignition system used. The cam will work fine provided you cut the dowel pin to the correct length.

Edit: can your machinist measure the I/E lobe lift? That may at least give some clues as to what its specs are.
