im a lil nervous

Hey guys, so im goin on leave in mid december and im gonna be drivin home to middle tennessee from norfolk virginia, 711 miles and goin through the mountains. This will by far be the longest trip my camaro has ever gone since ive owned it. Heres everything ive done to it since ive got it

oil pressure sensor/sender
3"x14" edelbrock air cleaner
msd cut to fit spark plug wires
accel header plugs
spark plug wire loom seperator
a/c delete kit
hooker shorty headers
hooker headers y pipe
2, 12" subs and amp
aluminum driveshaft
inner and outer tie rods(both sides)
both front wheel bearings
180* thermostat
2 new tires(the front were to big and rubbed)

i also got my a/c delete heater box i still gotta put on, i have a tbi spacer that i only spent 20 bucks on used, figured id try it though i dont even think my hood will shut with it, and i got an adjustable fuel pressure regulator going on in a few days along with a msd blaster coil. Before i leave im gonna change the oil, fuel filter, cap and rotor and i still have to get it aligned. My question is, is there anything i should be going over and checking and double checking, a breakdown would really suck while on christmas leave. So please throw me some opinions. Thanks

Re: im a lil nervous

Seems like your on top of things. So what's there to be nervous about? Just double check all your fluids and check your spare tire/jack/tire iron, ect.... When I go on long trips I always bring my toolbox, flashlight, fixaflat, extra coolant and oil, extra set of keys, jumper cables, fuses, my whole damn garage...... Your good to go.......

I think you should be ok, Thirdgen's are very reliable cars. I would bring a car charger for your cell phone just in case.

Re: im a lil nervous

well when it comes down to it do you really have another option? If she has been running fine she should keep running fine for awhile. car is older and will have sudden problems but you cant worry about what will happen. people who do that never get anywhere

Re: im a lil nervous

About two years ago I drove my '90 RS 305 TBI with 220k+ miles on the engine from So Cal to No Cal and back over a 48 hour period. It was probably a total of 600-700 miles. The car made it fine.

Re: im a lil nervous

^Same here, over 200 every Sunday, and I've taken it on several 400+ trips without a single issue. (Ok, I lied - but I've since fixed the hot start issue. ) Just like any car, check your fluids, check your tires, and have fun. Even if something does break, it's a lot cheaper on your 3rd gen than on any of the newer cars (or most of the imports.)
