Stupid question

This may be a stupid question, and I hope I dont get flamed too bad...LOL!!!
Can I remove the computer from my car and still use the throttle body? Also, what about the transmission? Will it work right without the computer?
I was thinking of using a carberator if the computer can be removed. I know that the computer controls a lot of stuff.

If I remove the computer:
Can I use a carberator?
Will the tranny act right?
Will the cooling system work right?

What all does the computer actually do?
I am new to all this computer stuff, and would really like to get rid of it if possible.

Re: Stupid question

if you remove the ecm you will have to go carbed. the tranny lock up will no longer work either. nor will the distributor. go to the carb section and read.

Re: Stupid question

1. if you are tbi the fan will work as long as the wiring to the passenger head is left intact.
2. tbi will not work
3. you will need an hei dizzy. you small cap one will not work.
4. you will need an intake for a carb.
5. tranny lock up will no longer work.
6. you will need a return style external regulator to cut down fuel pressure
7. unless 86 or older you will no longer pass inspection

Re: Stupid question

Has anyone put a blower on a 305tbi car before? If so, what were the results?

Re: Stupid question

im sure the blower has been done. if you want to buy a blower go ahead and a buy a 350 engine also...makes more sense.
