Any good flowing TBI fuel pumps??

Here is what I am doing. I am running a carb setup with a jegs billet FPR. It can take an inlet psi up to 20 psi and I ran this setup on my last car with a TBI pump. This car is making more power NA than the last car with nitrous . What is the stock TBI fuel pump good for? This motor should be making 320+ hp to the wheels basing it off its previous setup and what I have done. I will also be spraying it with atleast 150 shot. I have searched but havent seen anything, maybe I missed something. Thanks

Re: Any good flowing TBI fuel pumps??

stock pumps can go up to 15 psi but the volume is more of the concern...I would think you could jump up to the walbro 190lph fuel pump and be fine...

Volume is what Im looking for , but it cant put out more than 20 psi because of my regulator. I wont need more than 5-7 psi.

I dont have any direct references, but when you turn down the pressure (regulator) of a fuel pump, the flow it can supply is greatly increased. you should be fine with that HP at ~6psi with a TBI pump.

Edit: see this article

if you are worried about it put a tpi pump in instead of a tbi pump. these can handle up to 60 psi.

If you want more volume with out pressure, you'll have to increase the line diameter.

Re: Any good flowing TBI fuel pumps??

you can prolly get away with the pump you have but i wouldnt trust it. its a tbi pump. the volume you are looking for can be supplied. but your problem is going to be when the nitrous is applied the pressure isnt going to go up. you might need a vacuum referenced reg. prolly depends on how much nitrous you are going to run.

I have never seem nitrous system use a vaccum referenced regulator. As long as the psi doesnt drop, then I wont have a problem. I dont plan on using a stock pump, Im looking for an aftermarket pump. My car currently has one of the factory helper pumps installed that runs at 4 psi.

Re: Any good flowing TBI fuel pumps??

it would raise the fuel pressure when you went wide open. not a bad idea.

Re: Any good flowing TBI fuel pumps??

My initial thinking is that you'd have enough fuel volume with the stock tbi pump too. Especially when your decreasing it's working pressure.

Makes sense, might just use it and see how it does.
