Re: stock fuel pump
dropping the tank is pretty easy -did mine back in '93
and again last year, did cheat a little back in '93 though:
not saying i recommend this,but back then i couldn't
seem to get the filler neck through without bending it
so cut the neck about 3"back from the cap and rejoined
the halves with a chunk of hose after tank reinstalled
-this made the 2nd drop last year real easy...Many here
have reported dropping the tank with no problems or
modifications at all,so possibly later models have more
clearance or i just was not getting the tank in the
right position in '93 BTW the hose that i found
was perfect for the filler neck was a section of
intercooler hose from a renault fuego turbo

Re: stock fuel pump
what kind of pump is in the tank now?-if it's a stock TBI
pump that is a turbine pump and fuel will flow through
it with out the pump running-can just leave in place
and draw fuel through it.If its a TPI pump that will need
removed as those have roller 2nd stage and do not flow
well inactive.
