TBI with ECM or Carburator

Hi
I have a TBI 305 engine. I wanting to do a build. Unfortunately I don't know enough about the TBI and the ECM.
What set up, carburetor or TBI with computer, will put out better numbers overall? Assuming I do intake, cam, and headers.
Basically, do I keep the computer and do the intake, cam, and headers with my current TBI or do I get a carburetor that has a higher CFM rating?
Thanks
Another option is get a 350. Do intake, cam, headers. Put it in my car, get a new chip for the ECM and anything else required for the swap THEN, put my old TBI unit on top? Will that put out good/respectable numbers? Will the TBI unit keep up? Or go Carburator with this option?

Re: TBI with ECM or Carburator

Well you can get the same power out of either platform. With the TBI and computer. You'd be getting better fuel mileage if the tune is right. The more radical the engine the harder tuning is.

It seems like this question gets asked once a week. Their is a ton of infomation on this site of these exact questions.

Their is a 305-350 swap thread. Telling you exactly what you would need.

Another option. If you don't have smog testing. You can go with one of these new self tuning fuel injection systems. Whether switching to multi port injection, or some sort of 4bbl tbi unit. That is also something to look into. Makes tuning easier and will get fuel injection fuel mileage. But your looking at 1700-2100 for the setup.
