ECM swap question

First things first, my car is an 88 camaro that came stock with the LO3.

Alright, so I've done your standard 305-350 tbi swap. As suggested in the 305-350 swap guide, I've ordered a 350 knock sensor to install (10456288) and injectors. My question is this: My camaro is an 88, meaning it has the 063 ECM. In the 305-350 guide I saw Fast355 said that the 746 ECM is a pin for pin replacement for the 063. Does this mean I could unplug my ecm, plug in the 746 and be good to go? I know a need a chip from a 350 car (such as the caprice).

My next issue is that I have a T-5, and I know no 350 cars with a 746 came with a 5-speed. So could I get by with a chip from a caprice and just deal with not having the shift light and a constant SES light until I get into chip burning?

Thanks in advance

Re: ECM swap question

What is the advantage of 1228467 ECU over 1228863?

Are you trying to avoid burning a chip for in increased displacement?

Re: ECM swap question

Exactly. I just don't have the time to dedicate to learning how to burn chips right now. It was my understanding that if I pulled a caprice chip, it would only work in the 746 ECM. Is that incorrect?

Re: ECM swap question

no I think just $4D mask will work with the 1228063. you should switch to a 1228746 if you are going to stay with tbi instead of a odd ball ecm.

Re: ECM swap question

So to use an LO5 chip, I would need a 746 ECM? This is correct right?

Re: ECM swap question

you also need to spark module. if you have a 746 ecm you can put a 350 chip in it and go since it controlled both.
