Oxygen sensor problems

Last summer I installed a new oxygen sensor, after learning how to data log I found out that the sensor is staying in open loop, my question is would a bad coolant temp sensor lead to faulty o2 sensor readings? Because the temp is reading abnormally high

Re: Oxygen sensor problems

yes it would, if your ect sensor is bad it wont ever let the car go into closed loop which will throw your fuel trims all over. when mine was bad i had a high idle and bad gas mileage

I would check the sensor with your datalog, I kept burning up Bosch sensors for some reason, threw in an ntk and haven't had a problem since, when I looked at the graph it would stop banking properly and it kept giving out a lean signal so I was dumping fuel like crazy

Re: Oxygen sensor problems

Hey just something to think about....have you checked the ground for the 02 sensor on the wire harness?

I have the ebl system and noticed one day my 02 sensor flat lined for *seemingly* no reason...Nothing could get it to run the expected and normal cycle. So, I "upgraded" to a heated o2 sensor, wired it up, and then noticed that nothing changed. I was still getting that annoying flat line. I cut the specific ground wire for the 02 sensor coming off of the ECM wire harness and grounded it to the body. The O2 1 sec lean/rich cycle started right up and I had an excuse to tell the wife that I needed a heated sensor...it's a win win.

The threads necessary to figure out the ground issue for the o2 sensor can be found on this site via search. It's been a while and I don't want to mislead you.
