This morning heading out for school, i started my car to warm up so i am not freezing on the way there. it was idling lower than it usually does, didn't look at the tach, but it was idling low. i go outside to head out, shift in reverse than into drive (i am parked beside my garage and behind one of our cars) and not 5 seconds after i shift into drive and attempt to pull away, it stalls on me. so, i put it in park, and restarted it. still idling slowly i start to make my way to school. (it was raining hard so i didn't really get out to look or anything, or have a chance to feel if it was driving different than regularly. so i will give an update after school if the weather is somewhat better. okay, back to what i was saying, about 5 minutes from school my car starts to feel weird, i let off the gas (wasnt giving much throttle at all) than i give it a little gas, and my RPMs seemed to rise higher than usual,not like shooting up, but they seemed a bit high for the speed i was going and the amount of throttle given. it didn't shift up out of that gear either (think i was in second) i'm going to check it out more later after school. but this was definitely not the best way to start the week, especially while pouring rain, and i had to get the school to take a test.
Oh, and by the way, my car is a 1989 Camaro RS 305 TBI, Auto trans.

 

Oh, and when it stalled it died, and my check engine light came on. when i put it in park and turned it back on the light was gone. When i put my key in the ignition and turn it, not trying to start my car, but just getting the power on the check engine light comes on but never when i start my car. any idea of why? thanks

What caused the problem? Somone might have a similar problem and your fix could be useful to those who use the forums.

 

turns out it was actually my gas, apparently when my car is lower on gas it does this. and i needed to add a little bit of transmission fluid.
