Re: build 305 twin turbo

Well I'm in the process of rebuilding my TBI 305 (LO3) right now .. Stock they are 170 HP and I should be somewhere close to 300 when I'm done .. How many miles r on the car ? What's ur budget ? Any mods done to it already ? We need more details man .. And if ur dead set on a turbo 1 will be plenty and plenty expensive too !

Just swap in a 350 with a decent cam .. A twin turbo build will prolly cost u 20 grand or better

build a 350 and you can easily have 300hp a 305 not so much nor easily.

swap in a 350 with a nice setup sell the 305 turd of an engine, stall your trans build that a bit and have yourself a healthy carbd motor

Depends on what you build. That wouldnt be enough to build half my car from ground up, if you look at complete package. From wheels to suspension to motor to make entire system work.

A budget stock bottom end build could be done well under 5g. My first entire turbo system home fabbed i probably had 3500-3700 into it using decent parts and a decent intercooler. For a 305, go ebay parts and cut that cost in half.

To the op i suggest buy some turbo books and general engine performance books and read what all is involved. Its not easy or exactly cheap to do right but most anyone can do it once you learn how and then attempt the build

Re: build 305 twin turbo

some people have luck with the cheapo ebay stuff but the modify the preexisting parts to last longer, etc. 20k is reasonable for a whole car but way more money than anyone should put into a 305 in my eyes.

Yup .. I paid 3k for my car and have about 10k in it altogether now .. An that just with a mildly built stock 305 and haven't even touché the Trans yet .. And I'm I'm the process of building the engine .. 300 hp ain't that hard to get out of a 305 I u plan everything properly anything more that they woul be a challenge and prolly not worth the $ .. But pretty much anything I've bough for this 305 could be swapped to a 350 if need be

Edit : I haven't even touched the exterior yet either besides a new hood
