Water in TBI
I accidently left my hood open with the breather off the TB and water may/did get into the TB/intake. Not really sure what too do.... any help would be great. Also i may have tried to crank it. alllllooot. im an idiot.
Re: Water in TBI
Unless you drove it into a pond, it's highly unlikely you got much water in there. Barring leaving it uncovered and no hood for a few rainstorms. If you're talking about just a little may have been blown under a hood into it in a driving rain overnight, You're better off just cranking it and drying up any moisture from running it. You wouldn't have gotten enough in there to do any damage. Worst thing to do is let it sit too long and it starts to rust valves or cylinder walls should it make it that far.

it rained alot.. and the breather was off... gosh i dont know.. it turns over but doesnt catch.
Re: Water in TBI
If it won't fire the distributor probably just got some moisture in it. Pull the cap on the distributor and blow it out if you have a compressor. Dry the cap out with some paper towels.

Re: Water in TBI
try some starting fluid
*IF* enough water got in, the fuel coming from the Injectors will be mixing with the water, could be enough to prevent starting

Pull the plugs, dry them off. Perhaps fouled. Crank engine with plugs out to blow excess water and fuel out of cylinders. Old plug wires???
I'd have expected it to start almost immediately.
Plenty of folks--me included--deliberately pour water into the throttle body/carburetor of a running engine in order to steam-clean carbon deposits off the combustion chambers and piston tops. The water by itself is harmless. Rust or enough water to hydro-lock a cylinder is another story.
