OK to shorten twisted pair of ICM and injector wires?

I need to finish the installation of my modified factory harness, is it okay to trim the injector wires and the ICM wires?

If you are shorting Injectors wires use crimp and solder technique (heat shrink to seal-it off). This junction must have very low resistance!!
As an alternative and if you are very handy with contact pins you can remove injector connector pins from the plastic clamp body, take a section of harness that is no longer needed, re-crimp contacts and install back into the connector clamp. Original plastic body is probably yellowed and very fragile so it is a good idea to have some good spares from JY or from PICO # 5624-BP (18GA THROTTLE BODY INJECTION); GM 12102568; DELCO
PT285.

ICM wires can be shorten - just make sure that wire to wire junction is well done (western union +solder or butt crimp + solder) and well sealed (heat shrink).

Anyone besides me stuff some silicone grease around the soldered connection before warming-up the heat-shrink tubing? I like to see the excess silicone grease squirt out of the ends of the heat-shrink tubing. (at least on critical connections; or any that will be exposed to the elements--under-car wiring, or boat trailer connections.

I use RTV (silicon sealer) in under hood splices.

Any RTV silicone (silicone, not silicon) I'm aware of needs humidity (moisture) to cure. Installing heat-shrink tubing over the top may or may not prevent the RTV from curing. I heard quite recently and on an audio forum that RTV outgassing is corrosive to wiring or circuit-traces, but that's not confirmed by me.

Realistically, RTV silicone may be every bit as good a weather seal (even uncured) as silicone grease.

I always use heat shrink with the adhesive lining for critical splices. I order it from McMaster-Carr in 4' lengths.

I'm going to have to look for some of that.

I ordered a pile of heat shrink tubing a couple of months ago, but I didn't get any with adhesive inside.

Hickory Tube Works on eBay will sell you a neatly boxed assortment of sizes if your needs are more modest.
