Renegade CrossFire intake install question

I'm about to swap my stock manifold for the new Renegade. I have a question though...do I need to move the fan blade like devices to the new intake? I know they were put there to create turbulence, but are they need on the new manifold?

Thanks,

Alec

Re: Renegade CrossFire intake install question

I don't have them on mine. The manifold was not designed for them. I really don't see a difference without them there.

I think they were put there for fuel atomization at low RPM. It was supposed to help low speed driveability IIRC. You will like the Renegade. Make sure you bump up your fuel pressure to around 14 PSI as well to give it a bit more fuel. Throw a TPI fuel pump in there as well.

What do I need to do to make fuel pressure adjustable?

DCS used to sell all the stuff you needed for this. Unfortunately with them gone, it is up to you to be creative and make a tool to get in there and adjust while the car is running. I also have their gauge in between TBI's to read pressure. You need to fab something up at this point. The regulator IIRC is in the driver side TBI.
All of this is based on installing a better fuel pump. The one that came on the car is inadequate to say the least. Some of them barely maintain 9 PSI at idle. A fuel pump for a 1985 Corvette will fix that problem.
The extra fuel pressure will fix most driveability issues. A slight bump in base timing helps as well.
This link shows how to make the stock regulator adjustable. There are also companies on Ebay that sell an aftermarket unit that can be adjusted with an allen wrench.

Re: Renegade CrossFire intake install question

I've thought about it and I was thinking about parallel plumbing my throttle bodies, so I believe I just need to rebuild them and use an external fuel pressure regulator.

Do those electric fuel pumps for the Cross Fire really put out that low a pressure? That's barely above what a mechanical pump for a carburetor would put out.

Re: Renegade CrossFire intake install question

Parallel plumbing is overkill on a stock 5.0 Crossfire. If you step up to a healthy 350 or 383, then you should think about it. If you just get a bit more fuel pressure, the ca will run so much better. If tartagliaz28 has the Crossfire stuff I mentioned, buy it, as nobody else has it. Get the pressure gauge and adjustment tool and you will be good to go.

I got your email...I'm just not sure if I'll need all of what you have. I'll let you know, but with what I'm doing to it, I may need a bump up in fuel pressure or bigger injectors. I'm working on porting the heads and and I'm going to install the Renegade intake. I'm eliminating all of the emissions and installing shorty headers and a FlowerMaster Cat back exhaust system. Instructors at school say to get it back together an see how it runs and go from there.

How was the installation? I am have problems with the accessory bracket location holes. My manifold is missing them.
