Please Help! TBI swap questions

I admit my newbie-ness and the searches i did only added to the

I am swapping a "complete minus the O2 sensor itself" TBI onto my '77 400sb equipped K5. I have a performer manifold i would like to use & ordered the adapter. Will this TBI even work on my truck? what, in your non-binding opinion would/might/should be changed or modified? I am looking for overall function, not HP per say.

Any help would be appreciated and all opinions are welcomed!

thanks!

What TBI unit? Better be at least 350 CID or bigger. Same with injectors - and you may have to increase the fuel pressure. When you say complete, you DO mean the computer as well, right? You will need the O2 sensor. You may be able to get by using the chip from the cop cars (I forget the actual use - the Caprice, I think?) but in the end you're looking at learning to program your own chips for best performance.

yes, it came off a 350 truck engine. I have read that a computer has the ability to learn to a certian extent, and that "truck" TBI's do better on "truck" applications. The engine will be maily stock excpt for a performer manifold, headers and...that's it

That is exactly my question, what are the "problems as usual"?

I am having hard time figuring out where to plug the VSS into. I have heard into the spedo cable but i have a TH350

i would say you prolly will need 350 injectors, but other than that it shoudl be fine. what do you mean "minus o2"? you will need the O2 sensor to make it all work.

thank you NJ SPEEDER.

one more question, where is a good place to get swap VSS's? I have not found anyone recommended. Mine will have to plug into a transfer case, so i do need a custom VSS.

thanks again

I don't use a VSS but I believe there are some available in Jeg's and/or Summit. Made by a company call JTR, Jags That Run. I have used them in my CA swap as a VSS signla received by the ECU is mandatory there. It worked well, about $70-85 bucks, if I remember right. In a TH350... Remove the speedo cable, install the device on the output, then install the speedo cable on top of it. A bit long, though, and you may have tunnel interference problems.
