I'm using the Moroso 14x3" flat bottom air cleaner. Fits perfect, no more spacer.
Part#65911, $47.99 at Summit.

I own a 1988 305 tbi i put a 14x3 under the hood no problem but my brother owns a 91 305 tbi and the skrew that you will tighten it to didnt reach all the way up. Really easy to put on just take all the old stuff of cap the vacum line cover the senser that connects to the stock filter so you dont mess it up and just put on the new open element.
i got a drop base 14'' k&n cleaner with a 3'' element and it fits fine but i took the drop base off and put a mr. gasket non drop base on it...with the non drop base you can remove the spacer ring and it will clear the throttle linkage fine and the hood clearnce is fine. definetly get a non drop base its much better

Remember that I have the RPM intake on vortec heads with a 1" adaptor plate and hte holley 2" TB so clearance is a big issue.
that should work fine...if you dont have the 40$ for a k&n filter go ahead and get a cheapo itll still flow much better than the stock air cleaner will...get a NON DROP base...much much better ive had noth and the drop hit my throttle linkage and you have to use the spacer ring...with a non drop you can remove the spacer and get much better flow and it clears everything

Just some FYI, The drop base 14X3 Edelbrock did not clear the throttle linkage and some of the ignition components on my 91 Firebird. I tried a demo one in a Pepboys parking lot.

Like I said before, a ball hammer and an anvil work great to make the "cheap" open drop base fit anything. I'm running one on my holley TB and it doesn't hit the throttle linkage but that's probably because the holley version is slightly different than the rochester. Either way it isn't a hard work around if you have some leather gloves and about 15 minutes to burn.
Oh yeah, the K&N filter is good but it really REALLY isn't needed. A 14x3 filter is recommended for a 350hp 350 and that's a cheap paper element. Don't be fooled into thinking you need something when you don't. The K&N is great but believe me, $40 towards: a new high voltage coil, a wonderbar, or maybe a 180 thermo with low temp fan switch! If you've got the money go for it but last time I checked none of us want just looks, we want to go faster, yes/no?
