305 or 350

ok it goes like this. I am the owner of a realy nice looking 90 camaro with a 305 tbi in it. Now it is time for me to get into the powertrain and i am looking for seguestions. Where I live (chicago burbs) there are not very many serousley modified bow ties here. I plan on changeing that. Now we all know that our cars came with the 305 and the 350. My question is which one should i buld for my car. I can either tear down the 305 i allready have and fill it with a bunch of speed parts. Or i could go and buy a 350 and buld it. Now i know i am going to get a lot of guys saying to go with the 350. But everyone and the grandma has one around here. I like to be diffrent. To have something unique. Thats why I am asking this question. 305 or 350????

So you wanna be different huh?

Having a 90 RS with a 350 in it would be very different. Not too many people do that swap. They usually get an IROC and build it up. Or if they have a 305, their mods are usually (not always) limited to bolt-ons.

Just imagine yourself blowing away a Mustang, and the confused look on the guy's face to see that you have an RS.

And if anyone asks you what you got in there, tell them it's just a stock small block!!!!! You won't be lying because all 305 and 350 engine blocks are small blocks. Just don't tell them it's a 350.

Forget all that. Drop a Ram Jet 502 in there.

Now we're talkin' serious power. :P

Honestly though, 350 is the way to go. You can mod the 305 if you want and crank a lot of power out of it, but it's not worth it...

im going to do the 350 swap into my 90RS also, but first im going to get it ready for the 350.

3.73 gears w posi
SFCs and LCAs
TH700r4 rebuilt w/ 2200-2400 stall, shift kit, tranny cooler

Edelbrock TBI intake
LT1 cam
underdrive pulleys
TBI spacers and stuff like that, anything that will swap to a 350, i also want to learn alittle more about cars by installing the cam ,intake, etc. so that by the time i do do the swap i can do it myself. But i see the 350 in my car before i graduate from college so that gives me about 2 and a half more years do to all my stuff

well the only thing about my car is that you cant tell that it is a RS.
All of the badges have been removed and filled. The chanel in the rear bumper has also been filled. The nose bow tie has been removed and the antena has been removed. It is all smooth! I do have a irock hood and grill. So it does look kinda trick but no one has ever notised it till i pointed it out to them. Its the only one in the area that looks like it.

No replacement for displacement. That statement is VERY true. Go with the 350. More potential, more power, :Tim Allen Grunt:
