will a edlebrock TBI intake help much?
hey my intake is leaking oil pretty bad and i was wondering if i should get the edlebrock TBI intake (will take me at least a month to get the money) and let the oil leak till then or should i just reseal my current intake and wait till i can afford the intake and a cam...what you think? i figure i wont notice much difference till i get a new cam

Here's my philosophy on stuff like this: If your going to bother taking something out, put something better back in. Why pull the TBI and manifold off twice. I'm wanting one of those too, maybe this summer.
To those who have it: It has all the sensor, holes and EGR stuff in it right? Just bolts in? I think after I do my headers and gears this would be a good next step.

Yes the Edelbrock TBI intake drops right in.
It's a perfect match for stock converter and cam. I don't think I'd run a much bigger cam with it tho, it doesn't have much plenum volume.

There is also the Holley TBI manifold, I have that one now and it bolts on fine. It is also slightly cheaper. As for the cam go ahead and buy one when you can, Crane offers dozens of cams for good prices plus there is like a million cams to chose from anyway. The intake is a good choice for your car that what I was missing on my 305 when I had it. Go for it and I am sure you will notice the difference! Have fun
i guess i might go ahead and get it...i get paid thursday and it might be enough for the manifold but i dont think it will be (didnt get many hours this time) anyways i wanted to go ahead and get my exhaust done with this check (massive leak from in from of the cat and i need to install my headers) i might go ahead and reseal the one i have for now...just because it needs done bad and im not sure exactly when ill be able to get 200$ extra cash for the intake....i have one more payment to make on the car then ill have around 500$ a month to spend on it

If your going to dish out $200 for a intake go ahead and spend $50 for a LT1 cam, $35 for timing chain and put it in at the same time and be done with it. Oil leak solved and gain a solid 30-40hp over stock.

i liek my holley intake a lot, but you better be ready to invent some stuff if you expect to get all your power features to work right with it. the edelbrock is the direct bolt on piece, don't worry about the holley until you are worried about making a ton of power above 5300rpm(that is about where the edelbrock starts to hit turbulance issues)

see key word is...Burger King....can you say ****ty minimum wage job? bewteen gas, payments, and just overall expenses that extra 50 for the cam and 35 for the chain isnt really fisable right now...i also gotta have 125$ to get a y pipe made, and money for a new cat...this could take awhile unless money and daddy would float me a loan (i have a better chance of hitting the lottery) ill figure something out but it needs to be done soon. besides i think without the cam and heads i can still get into the 13's like camaroracing1992 did...just need n2o and alot of suspension

Yea, with the holley on my friends car we had to do some riggin' with it. Aside from the heater/break problems, your stock EGR valve wont bolt up, either. It fit fine under the hood of his 88 Trans am though.

It took me a week just to get mine back together. I had to make a TV cable bracket and make all new steel braided AN fuel lines to get my Holley to work. Not to mention the loss of EGR and the bolts I had to "doctor" for the cruise control module bracket. I could go on for days about all the stuff I had to fab for that intake.

Did you try to seal the leak?If it was me and I could seal it, I would wait and buy a cam, and change it all at once.Do it all when its warmer.Tune it once and your done with it.Put a 180 deg. stat in while your at it. I'm guessing I got 30 hp out of the LT1 cam and Edelbrock tbi manifold togather. Dont get in a hurry. Save your money and do it all at once.I don't think you will notice much gain with just the manifold anyway. Use the time you saved installing the manifold just once to do the ultimate TBI mods if you haven't allready done them.
Good luck whatever you do.
