L03 Heads/Cam Swap

Finally got around to tearing down my engine to solve a coolant leak and decided that since I had some 081 heads laying around and a decent l98 cam, it was a good time for a swap. More power? Meh. More fun? Absolutely! Also putting in a radiator because my coolant looked like the Mississippi River

Rebuilt to the best of my limited ability. Day off tomorrow so car should be running again if all goes to plan.

Well she's finally back together and running. Has a slight bog when you mat it in first but definitely pulls harder in higher rpm ranges.

Re: L03 Heads/Cam Swap

When my truck did that, some additional fuel pressure helped considerably. Started at 11-ish, now somewhere around 13--14.

Re: L03 Heads/Cam Swap

You need EPROM tune for sure. If anything, steal a bin file from a 305 TPI since the cam and heads are closer to that. You're going to have bogging and poor drivability without chip tuning.

It's definitely bogging through first. I was afraid I'd pushed the limit of the stock pcm a bit too far. Looks like I will have to learn how to burn chips

Re: L03 Heads/Cam Swap

Any thoughts on a Jet or hypertech chip? I can get one from my work fairly cheap but I'm afraid cheap isn't going to cut it.
