Questions for removing PS valve cover on 84 TA

Trying to remove the PS valve cover to replace the leaking gasket but am having issues. It looks like I need to remove the EGR / air hose that runs overtop the engine to have enough room for the valve cover to come off. Do I just cut these crimp clamps to disconnect the hose and then use regular hose clamps to reinstall?

Next issue is I removed the plastic emission hoses but one at the front of the engine broke right at the fitting. I found threads on here saying to repair these with regular rubber or silicone vacuum hose but how can I do this given where this one broke?

I would try to unscrew the check valve (after soaking it with rust penetrator of your choice) and then move the hose assembly out of the way? Or you can cut the clamps (as you pointed out) and replace with regular worm gear clamps.
As for the broken plastic tub issue, see if you can push the remains of the tub out, and reinsert the old tub. I hated those hard plastic lines. They even broke when these cars were relatively new. If the line is cracked or two short post-surgery mentioned above, then cut a straight piece of the line about an inch and a half and use vacuum hose that corresponds with the outside diameter.

Re: Questions for removing PS valve cover on 84 TA

i was able to finish this project last night. i had to cut the crimp clamps off the hoses connected to the headers. that provided the extra clearance i needed. i used regular hose clamps to reinstall them once the valve cover was back on. i also replaced the EGR valve while i was doing this work. i must have bought a new one at some point but never installed it.
good news is i was able to fix the broken plastic hose! i had some extra hoses saved from a car i parted out a long time ago. first i used a 9/64 bit (going very slowly) to remove the broken piece in the rubber fitting.

next i cut a small piece of plastic hose from my extra piece and pushed it in the rubber fitting so it stuck out a little.

then i used a small piece of vacuum hose to join the two pieces. i'm not sure what size the hose is since it was just a scrap piece i had in my tool chest. the plastic hoses are really snug in there though.

hoping to drive the car tonight to see if i fixed the oil leaks and ensure i hooked everything back up correctly.
