Ignition Module Help!!!
Ignition Module Help!!!
Hi guys... here's the issue I'm having:
Fresh rebuilt engine, I purchased a new ignition module to replace the functional old one, installed it and the enigne would not start. Put the old one back in..it started.
Ok, I got a bad module from the parts store. Right?
I take the new/failed module back and have it replaced. Install the second new module...car wound start! Ok, now I'm like major
I have check all readings on the distributor with a VOM and all are with in specs.
Any ideas or am I just getting a bad set of modules from AutoZone and I should try a different supplier?
Thanks,
Mike

If the old one is not bad are you replacing it with a stock replacement or performance aftermaket one? If stock replacement then I would get my money back and use the old one until I could get a MSD or Accell or some other performance module.
The old one is not bad, per say.. I just don't know how old it is. I bought the car in Nov. 2001 and it had sat for 2 years with out running. I had to do a complete rebuild of the motor as there was 145,000 miles on the clock.
I'm also having a minor issue with my HI-6S Fireball Ignition box and was hopping that by replacing the module would help resolve the problem.
The one I am (trying to) replace it with is a stock replacement.
I will take it back and get an aftermarket performance module and hopefully the car will at least start!
Thanks Steve!
